West Lyon sprints by Alta/Aurelia

Long road trip, listened to this one on the radio. West Lyon received kickoff, moved right down the field and fumbled inside the 10. Beau Hassebroek, however, picked a fumble a few plays later to make the score 7-0. After kickoff, AA moved the ball for a bit, but turned it over over on downs and BOOM Cody Grotewold with a long run and then TD, 14-0, then TD 21-0, then TD 28-0 and half. Second half AA had another long drive, took most of the third quarter but were stopped and then BOOM West Lyon's Cody Ahrendt blows up the middle, and Cody G for the TD, 35-0. Continous clock, the JV scores on Josh Metzger's 35 yd TD run with Garth Knobloch for 2. Trevor kicked all the extra points (5). Cody Grotewold had 115 yards rushing on 4 carries with 2 TDs, Trevor Snyders had 95 yards on 9 carries, 2 TDs, Cody Ahrendt had 74 yards on 8 carries, I think you get the idea. Defense was led by Brendan TerWee's 6 solos, 5 assists. Jason Van Ginkel had 3 solos, 7 assists and Cody Ahrednt had 5 solos, 3 assists. Beau Hassebroek had a great night with a fumble recovery for TD, 2 tackles for loss, 4 solo, 3 assists. I was told that the boys also really laid some hits on AA.
This week is homecoming against SOB. They are 2-1, 1-0 in district with a win over Pochantas last week, 22-14. Big Blue just needs to stay the course and keep working, we will be fine. See all of you on Homecoming night. GO BIG BLUE!!
