Had to combine these two games. First off, the Central Lyon game. The Lions are very, very good. I was really impressed with how physical they are and have some good team speed. We lost 33-14 and that score is about right. We gained over 300 yards, just had some turnovers and we are YOUNG. I think we are starting 5 sophomores. The future is bright for us, but wow we are going to have to be patient. No surprise to anyone, just don't like that loss.
We beat Sheldon 21-8. Sheldon is very average this year. We had Huyser and Heathcott each rush for almost a 100 yards but it seemed like we had 15 penaltys and they really hurt. We also had some fumbles that really hurt us. I am not sure what is going on but we just seemed out of it. I don't know it it had something to do with the Jay Rozeboom Complex being dedicated that night but the first quarter was hard to watch. As of right now, no one is really standing out on offense. Maybe Huyser, he runs very hard. Everyone else is just ok. Defense looked pretty good. I really like Van Hoff at corner and Snyder at safety. Hard nosed kids.
This is a tough team to figure out. I just have not seen that edge we have seen for so many years at West Lyon. It reminds me of the teams from 2003-2005. Nice teams, good kids, but no wow factor. I do think there is some very nice potential, but we have a big target on our back. We also have some up and coming teams in our district.
We have Sibley this week, they are 2-0. I don't know much else, but we are not talking about a powerhouse either. Take them lightly though and we might get kicked. I am looking forward to a break out game for the Wildcats. GO BIG BLUE!!
