West Lyon absolutey crushes Avoca AHST

There are times that Big Blue just wins. Other times they pound. This time, they crushed. As great of an ass pounding as I have seen from West Lyon for years. It is so much fun to be back in the dome again. It feels like home.
Alright Avoca was not very good. Not a huge surprise. When we saw their boys come out, I just went oh my gosh, they are not very big. Over 400 yards of rushing in the first half. Wow. Great job boys. Now we have one more game to go. Saw some of the second half. BGM is big and seem to have some good athletes. I feel like it will come down to which team is tougher. Line first, backs second. Here is how the last game went.
Cedar Falls, Ia. -- Pounding AHST of Avoca and the UNI-Dome turf for 484 rushing yards, West Lyon punch a ticket to its sixth state championship game with a 63-21 win in Thursday’s Class A semifinals.

Six different Wildcats rushed into the end zone, led by Brandon Snyder and Kaleb Heyer’s combined 336 yards on the ground.

“We wanted to establish that we’re a smash-mouth football team,” Snyder said. “We were supposed to be here last year but we weren’t. We worked hard and we want people to know that we’re here for a reason.”

The physical mismatch pushed West Lyon to its reserves after halftime and forced AHST to its third string quarterback. Before halftime, the Vikings (12-1) managed just 44 yards of offense — 46 coming on a first quarter touchdown pass — while West Lyon (13-0) packed in 410 rushing yards and 50 points.

Similar offensive systems were left running at very different abilities.

“We came out of the gate and hit them in the mouth early and it set the tone for the rest of the game,” Snyder said. “They had some big injuries to great players and that limited what they could do. We just took advantage.”

Austin Fink scored AHST’s final two touchdowns, returning a kickoff and scrambling in as the desperation quarterback due to injury.

West Lyon won its last state title in Class 1-A in 2010. The Wildcats will enter Thursday’s title game against BGM of Brookyln coming off a dominant and quick running clock performance.

Kickoff for the Class A championship game is set for 1:36 p.m.

Watched some of the BGM game. We have a challenge in front of us. I like where we have been and they have not been here before. Go hard Big Blue, will be fun to watch. GO BIG BLUE!! GO BIG BLUE!! GO BIG BLUE!!
