Hinton takes it to West Lyon

Hinton showed off an impressive passing game and blew by Big Blue 28-12. Game started off well for Big Blue as the first drive netted a TD (Tyler VanMiddendorp) with a missed PAT 6-0 WL. Hinton responded with a nice drive capped by a wild QB scramble, PAT good 7-6 Hinton. Teams exchanged some punts then Big Blue had an INT that was tipped at the line and Jacob Meyer came down with it. Brandon Snyder on the QB sneak and 12-7 Big Blue. I thought we got the 2 point conversion but the zebras said no. Hinton was not really doing alot at this point other than a long jump ball that 5 came down with and toward the end of the 2nd we were driving but an INT for them was returned to the 20ish late and with 15 seconds left they score with a throw to the endzone in the corner. Kid made a great catch. Questionable interference call on the 2 pt conversion allows Hinton another, closer chance and they convert. 15-12 Hinton at half. I felt in no way, shape or form that Hinton should be any closer than 18-7, much less ahead by 3. I thought after half we would see a different team. To sum it up, we did. Big Blue came out very flat, and Hinton looked great scoring two more times to win 28-12. The first score was a scramble, broken play dump pass that the kid weaved around for 30 some yards and scored. The second was a pick 6 from 70 yards out that I did not see. West Lyon moved the ball at times for a bit but fumbles, INTs, and penalities killed drive after drive. Hats off to Hinton, they threw the ball when they couldn't run very well and kept going to the same routes (over 260 yards passing). We never did really stop it very well. Their kids just kept going. Their defense gave up alot of yards (almost 300 total) but shut us out in the second half. Their QB is TOUGH in the open field, bought himself time for some big plays. This is not the first time West Lyon has ever had a stinker of a game. Hopefully it is the last time this year! I think we will see a new focus from the boys, Coach Rozeboom has a way of doing that *) This Friday is West Sioux at West Sioux. They are off to a rough start and our boys need to keep it that way. GO BIG BLUE!!
