West Lyon lets one slip away to CLGLR

AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH. 16-14 final. CL/GLR pulls it out on the last play. I am attaching an article I found about it. Must say the place was packed, hard to get a burger for awhile. It was a crazy game to watch and Big Blue fans should be proud of the boys. We are young and just got younger during the game. I hope Tyler Van Middendorp and Sully are going to be ok. Did not look very good. Offense was moving the ball in the first half pretty well, just no scores. After the injuries we looked lost until the last drive of the game. That was very impressive, offense looked calm and in particular Brandon Snyder and Adam Tunissen. There is some real potential. The defense was fine, but not dominate. Curious to see how we bounce back for our home opener against Western. I was right about last friday night being a good game, not the blowout some were predicting for CL/GLR. I like West Lyon at home over 2A Western. Go do it boys. GO BIG BLUE!!

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - Eric Schilling caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Ross Ackerman as time expired, lifting Central Lyon/George-Little Rock over West Lyon 16-14 in a frantic, Friday night finish sure to gain rapid renown in Beef Bowl lore.

West Lyon's Brandon Snyder had found Adam Tunissen on a 26-yard scoring strike to put the Wildcats ahead 14-10 with 1:14 to go.

Not to be outdone, Ackerman and Schilling hooked up for two crucial completions on the final drive -- the first one a 43-yard pass that Schilling pulled down at West Lyon's 14-yard line. The Lions (2-0) managed to scramble down the field and spike the ball, stopping the clock with two seconds left and setting up a game-winning play that rounded out the latest chapter in this rivalry's storied history.

CL/G-LR's Ryan McCarty rushed 23 times for 90 yards and broke through just before halftime for a touchdown and the game's first points.

Fifth-ranked West Lyon (0-1), the defending Class 1A state champs, tied it up on Bennett Feuchtenberger's 52-yard scoring scamper in the third quarter.

The Lions' Terron Gerdes kicked a 23-yard field goal to take back the lead with 2:19 left and set off what turned out to be a wild ending.
