West Lyon hammers Hinton

I was nervous about playing at Hinton, they have been good the last few years and we have had some scares at Hinton over the last 6 years. Well we stopped them first drive and went about 60 yards before we were stopped at about the 20. Defense got the ball back right away and Jason Van Ginkel scored on a short run. Defense just kept stuffing Hinton as Cody Ahrendt and Trevor Snyders all had TD runs in the first half. 21-0 at half. Hinton came out in a crazy pass formation just before half but WL held them out of the endzone. Third quarter was kind of slow, we moved the ball at times but could not quite put it away. Finally early in the fourth Trevor knocked off a 70+ yard run and we are up 28-0. We quickly got the ball back on a fumble and Cody Ahrendt scored the last TD. Trevor had 208 yards and Cody Ahrendt had 113 yards. We had 389 yards rushing, 427 yards total. Trevor was sooo explosive, great to have him back and Cody just runs so hard, people do not like to tackle him. Sully also chipped in with 50 yards and Cody G was 4-6 for 38 yards passing. Adam T had all 4 catches. Big Blue did have a couple fumbles, something we have not seen for awhile, hope that is out of our system. The defense did not give up any points until 24 seconds left in the game. Brendan TerWee led the defense with 6 solos, 5 assists with 2 TFLs, Cody Ahrendt had 3 solos, 2 assists with 1 TFL and Jason Van Ginkel had 1 solo and 4 assists. The front 4 kept good pressure on the QB and the LB and DB made some nice knock downs and tackled pretty well in the open field. Kick-off team also had one of their best games of the year. That was awesome to see. It was a dominant performance by Big Blue!

Next is Emmetsburg at West Lyon, part 2. Emmetsburg beat HMS for the second time this season at Emmetsburg 35-21. The game is Monday night at West Lyon, should be a huge crowd and a great game. GO BIG BLUE!!
