2009 West Lyon pounds Central Lyon George Little Rock
First off, great crowd Friday night and the burgers were great. 1st quarter was pretty ugly for West Lyon's offense. Penalities, fumbles, just plan yuck. The defense was stout however and when the offense fumbled at the one, the defense got it back at about the four and Jason Van Ginkel score the first TD mid way through 2nd quarter (Trevor Snyder kick, good looking kicker 3 or 4 touchbacks). Got the ball back moved it but could not score before half. West Lyon leads 7-0. Second half got ugly for CL/GLR. First play after kickoff Tyler Hoogeveen recovers a fumble (caused by a great hit by Brendan TerWee). West Lyon goes on short march, Van Ginkle scores 14-0. West Lyon picks off a pass, march score, Van Ginkel 21-0 with 7:30 left in 3rd quarter. West Lyon would have another drive early 4th quarter and Van Ginkel scores his 4th TD of the night. 28-0. CL GLR had 4 first downs, 69 yards rushing, 29 yards passing. West Lyon had 294 yards rushing, 6 yards passing, like 14 first downs. Sigleby had 94 yards, Van Ginkel had 93, Sully Al-Ostaz had 54, and QB Cody Grotewold had 31 yards. QB and new backs just need to get used to each other and we will be fine. O Line was pretty dominate. From left to right Kyle Scholten, Tad Meyer, Joel TerWee, Brendan TerWee, Tory Mogler, Beau Hasslebrok (TE). This is a salty group, they moved some big boys out of the way. Defense was led by Cody Arhendt (8 tackles), Andrew Metzger (8 tackles, INT), Brendan TerWee (6 tackles, 2 tackles for loss), Kyle Heyer (2 fumble recoveries) Nick Thompson (INT), and Tyler Hoogeveen (1 fumble recovery). Pretty obvious the front four of Tory Mogler, Brendan TerWee, Tyler Bos, and Cody Arhendt is pretty special against the run. Tyler Bos is a different kid out there, big improvement, Cody justs flys around and hits well, TerWee is rarely blocked and Tory is a huge D end that is smart. Beau, Joel TerWee, and Kyle Scholten also rotate in. LB looked good, Andrew Metzger and Trevor Snyder man outside, Nick Thompson in the middle. Secondary didn't have to do much this game but consist of Dan Kroger, Tyler Hoogeveen, Kyle Heyer and Adam Tuienissen (sp?) Just great defense. All in all good first game victory. CL is ok, will win more than lose ( I think). Now, can the Blue Crew stop BHRV and it's passing attack? It will be interesting. See you in Rock Valley! Go Big Blue!!!!
