West Lyon plows through St Albert
The weather outside was frightful but the score was so delightful!! Playing in the snow West Lyon beat Council Bluff St Albert 28-21. West Lyon scored on their first 3 possesions while St Albert managed just one TD and the score was 20-7 at half. WL did it with great line play with Koedam and Doorneweerd rushing through. Neither Sigleby or Kippley did much running the ball, but both threw key blocks on TD runs so it was all good. Hasslebrock had a TD catch also in the first. The second half was nerve wracking. St Albert hit a big pass and run to get the score to 20-14 and then scored later in the 3rd and got the extra point to make 21-20 CBSA. The 3rd was awful to the O as WL 3 and outed 3 times but in the 4th the Big Blue Crew got going and had a 8 minute drive to score with 2 minutes left and took the lead 28-21. CBSA got to the 50 but then could not convert on 4th down. Victory formation and West Lyon wins. Andy Simons was a stud this game along with Kippley in coverage. Will vant Hoff really dominated at tackle as really the whole line looked dominant in the first half and the 4th quarter. Hats off to CBSA, two time defending state champs and they were the team that knocked us out last year 19-12. They are a very very good team, West Lyon just played a great game and WL dealt with the conditions better. On to the DOME!!!!!!!!!!!
