West Lyon blanks Hinton

Homecoming game for West Lyon was a great team effort. Hinton came in after losing in OT to HMS and beating a very good Lawton Bronson team in the last two weeks. West Lyon was missing two O line starters Will Vant Hoff (54) and Brendan TerWee (75). Folks, Senior Vant Hoff (starting since his soph year) is a potential first team all state tackle and TerWee is only a sophomore but is our best linebacker and has been a beast at guard. The back ups, Tad Meyer and Will Van Hill, came in and the rest of the O and D lines stepped it up and ran for about 340 yards and held Hinton to under 200 yards. West Lyon got the ball first, got a couple first downs but had to punt, Hinton muffed the punt, we recover and score. Bad snap on extra point but Doerneweerd scrambled around, threw it up and after two Hinton guys hit it, Jason Koedem caught it. 8-0, hinton 3 and out, WL pounds down the field, Dorneweerd TD 15-0. Hinton again has to punt quickly, WL scores on the first play of the 2nd quarter, pass play to Kippley, 22-0. Stayed that way until half. Hinton came out 2nd half, long drive, gets to the WL 2 with first down, but big Blue pushes them back and holds. WL drives all the way to Hinton's 30 but punts. However we are now in the 4th. WL scores again by pounding the ball (Koedem) and we are at 29-0. Second team and then JV run out the clock and preserve the shut out. This game a big step to the district title. Three more district games to go and none of the remaining teams have a winning record. West Sioux at home then on the road to SOB and at Westwood (sloan).
