West Lyon beats Lawton Bronson

First things first, Lawton Bronson is a very good team. The first half LB was really moving the ball on the ground well. A fumble into the endzone on 4th and goal was big (WL recovered) and another stop at the WL 20 on 4th down were both big. LB did score first but just before half WL (Andrew Metzger) blocked a punt and the next play was a gorgeous throw into the corner of the endzone to Randy Kippley and we were tied 7-7. After half, the WL coaches made some adjustments (and maybe butt chewing? :) and boom, WL pounded out 180 yards rushing in the 2nd half. This game was the first time I really saw Kippley being used out of the power I as runner and Koedem was a beast. LB had about 200 yards rushing in the first half, 23 the 2nd. They also went to the spread and starting throwing after they got down 13-7, WL picked off 2 passes and 2 more TD drives 28-7, LB scores a cheap one with about 20 seconds left to make 28-13. I thought LB really pressed the panic button too early by throwing, but whatever. The really dumb play was going with a onside kick with 20 seconds left down by 15. Come on LB, you're done, it's just a regular season game. Well I guess that's the difference between coaches who have been there again and again and a staff that is trying to understand what it takes to be a consistent winner.
